The Big Banana Educational Programme

The World of Banana’s Theatre and Plantation tour is made up of the following four elements

1. An object theatre outlining the history of bananas using state of the art, spectacular and interactive technology. It traces the origins of the banana and how bananas ended up being grown in Australia and the Coffs region.
2. The second theatre is a Spectra-vision theatre which again uses Australian designed modern technology with virtual characters relating the value of the banana to them as individuals and the community as a whole in a fun and interactive manner.
3. The third component involves a walk in a real banana plantation. The walk ends up in an authentic packing shed, with demonstrations of how the bananas are de-handed, packed and ripened.
4. The final experience is a games/interactive room where guests are invited to partake in a number of ‘hands on’ fun banana related activities including a race against the banana bunch race champion of Coffs Coast. The activities in the games room are unstructured and visitors are welcome to browse in their own time.

This tour is supported by a free educational resource that has been designed to meet primary and secondary school syllabuses.
